Because everyone's doin' it........................ also, I haven't done one for 84 years!

State of the Me: For the most part, I'm good! Like, honestly, I feel pretty good. This week, in particular, has been making me pretty anxious but I think it'll blow over by Friday and that's all due to work and my car battery dying. The battery has since been replaced and hopefully the work situation will resolve itself with minimal repercussions >.>

I started acting classes a few weeks ago that have made me so happy and just really inspire me to do more in the way of that line of work. I kind of abandoned that dream years ago because I never thought I could actually do something like that but this year, I've been pushing myself to do things that are a little out of the box. I also got a new keyboard so I can re-learn piano but haven't even had time to take it out the box yet. SOON! I plan to sign up for dancing lessons and in the near future, possibly even singing lessons because I'd ultimately like to audition for some of the shows they put on at the theatre I'm doing the classes at. I just feel... right when I'm doing that kind of thing, you know? That's such a rare feeling, I never want to be anywhere else and time always flies when I'm in the class. Idk, don't look at me, I'll get emotional or something.

I'm also going to New York with Laine in a month to see Raúl Esparza sing so I am AMPED AFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF FOR THAT, HOLY SHIT!!!!!!!!!!!! I HOPE YOU GUYS SAY NICE THINGS AT MY FUNERAL WHEN I INEVITABLY PERISH FROM THIS FUTURE RELIGIOUS EXPERIENCE.

State of the Me: Personally, I am doing well! I'm extremely busy at work and it's that time of year where basically our entire department is behind with our claims so sometimes I stay late or come in early just to keep myself from getting even more behind. That means some days, I'm working up to 11 hours so when I get home, my brain is fried, which definitely makes it hard to tag. That's why I decided to abandon reqs for December, I needed to give myself the chance to catch up with the threads I do have and gear the older ones toward a good stopping point. When January comes along, I anticipate securing a good number of threads in the NYE post.

By the by, I wouldn't be at all adverse to starting private posts now to link for January for anyone who'd like a head start on those reqs. It's been many eons since I've last done one of these but here goes!

State of the Me: I'm feeling better recently than in the last couple months. For some reason, I took a horrible dip and started feeling extremely insecure and disposable. Every time I went on Twitter, I felt like I didn't belong there, which in turn made me feel all the more irrelevant. I felt like friendships I thought I could count on were fading, and I constantly worried that my existence was complete pointless. I don't know why that happened when it hasn't been that bad in a long time but it did spur a Twitter break, which helped a bit. I still have weird days when I dwell on the fact that I tend not to be someone people care to regularly talk to, but I'm trying not to let myself take it personally. I can't be online 24/7, my job doesn't allow for that like my old one usually did, so maybe that's what makes me feel so disconnected sometimes. BUT like I said, I'm doing my best not to bitch about it so much because there's really no point in that.

Instead, I've been trying to put more effort in concentrating on the good. I got to go to Disney World and act a fool with some of my faves, I've just booked a Vegas trip for February, work is going well and doesn't make me want to jump off roofs, my bf is wonderful always, one of my best friends just got a new job that serves literally the best tacos I've ever put in my mouth... so things are actually great, and it's actually nice to have written all that down.

In any case, enough about me, on with the pups :D

STATE OF THE MOI: I'm... actually in quite a good place, which is a far cry from the last time I wrote one of these. I started my new job at the Gecko last week and while I have quite a ways to go in terms of how long training is, I'm already so much happier than I was at the bank. I realized Monday morning that I wasn't dreading going to work, I was in a chipper mood, I actually look forward to learning what we're being taught because I'll be honest, I had zero understanding of how insurance worked before this. I find it interesting, and I love the people who work there already, the ones I've encountered so far have all been so real and honest and kind. It just seems like a great, thriving environment there, and I have so been looking for something like that. Really, really thankful I was able to get away from the poison.

Of course, the computers are heavily monitored at the new job, especially for a new hire. I won't even be on the floor for another five weeks or so, but I definitely won't be able to get on Twitter or do tags or anything like that. For this reason, I ended up buying a Chromebook! I plan on taking it to work and doing tags during breaks and what not. It does make me feel a little detached from what goes on day-to-day, which can send me into a brief bummer mood... but then I remember I'm in a much better situation now.

Me: I feel like I have less time to tag lately with work being as busy and shorthanded as it is but at the same time, I also feel like I'm keeping up fairly well with tags. I've developed a new system for keeping track of things, and I think it's helped me a lot so that's good news. Some days, I feel like trash and someone nobody wants to play with because obviously, I'm despised as a person in general, but I'm trying to keep my brain from thinking things like that.

That being said, I would love to start threads with anyone who's interested so if you read anything below that strikes your fancy, please comment/email/tweet/whatever and we can talk! :D

Newt: Still just cruisin' and enjoying his life as husband to the actual best wife in the world. I don't have any big plot plans for this fool but honestly, he seems do to okay just hanging around. If anyone does want to involve him in anything in particular, I'm all for it, but I'm not very worried about him at all when it comes to keeping him active with things to do. He's the kind of character who can just show up places and hang.

Kili: With Fili's disappearance coming up, he's going to be a goddamn wreck. Most of his time will be spent trying to find his brother, and he's really going to need his friends and Tauriel to help him get through this. He'll also be a little more reckless during this time, so he'll probably be getting into more fights or wailing a little harder on vampires while trying to get information (because in working with Reid "off-screen," it will be determined that Fili was taken by vamps) so if your pup wants to come across him looking a little more beaten up than usual, I'm all for it. Or if you'd rather have your pup help him kick some more ass, that would be great, too.

Reid: He's FANTASTIC right now. There's very little that could really bring him down at the moment because of his new relationship with Luke, and he's just so happy. It's probably a great time to meet him, though I do plan to have a private post up later for those who want to get involved with helping him trail Fili, Rae, and Padme. He's going to realize fairly quickly that the link there is that they've all spoken to him about the vampire situation and ultimately, I plan on using their disappearances to advance his investigation.

As of right now, my idea is to eventually have him discover that a particular group of vampires have formed a brothel of sorts, where people can go and have their blood sucked because they get off on it for a price. The murders that he's been investigating are basically acts of retribution, lessons to be taught to those who haven't been able to pay up. If anyone wants to be more a part of this plot, too, please let me know because I think it could be fun. Obviously, solving this case will not rid Darrow of vampires or anything like that but at the very least, the brothel thing can get shut down (until/unless someone decides to start it up again).

BUT yes, looking into the disappearances comes first so please feel free to get involved!

Okay, so that's what I've got so far. Again, if you see anything here you want to get involved with or even have any other ideas for how our pups can meet, I'm open to pretty much anything! <33333

Here's a quick and dirty SOTP that I want to put up while I have the time because this Friday (6/5), I'll be headed to Vegas and Colorado for vaca and won't be returning until 6/15. This is just to help me figure out if anyone wants to set up private threads that can be linked for the month of June because I'm sure that tagging into gatherings will be a wise choice for me.

NEWT is just chillin'. His sweet Seymour has gone on to a better parasitic place, so he's back to splitting his focus between work and his wife :D I don't have much in the way of actual plotting plans with him so it might be nice to get him involved with something. If anyone has any ideas or wants to start something up with him, don't hesitate to let me know!

KILI has been practicing with the bow he got as an item this month and trying to figure out the best way to go about trying to move forward bit by bit in his relationship with Tauriel. Things are confusing for him in that area, at best, because he has so many more memories of their time together in Arda than she does; but other than that, he's doing his best to drive his brother mad at any and every opportunity. I'm planning on throwing him into vampire slayage territory with Padme, but I'm still very keen on the idea of him being part of a little Darrow vigilante group so if anyone really is interested in joining in on something like that, I would love to plot out some details! :D Kili is also a character who is always prone to making new friends, provided they aren't assholes about his height, so new friends are very welcome.

REID is still getting used to being in the city. He's taken a step toward finding a friend in Luke, and he has some lovely threads going on in his debut that I'm enjoying. I can see him developing friendships with everyone there, so that's fantastic. I would love for him to meet more people in law enforcement, of course, because I would like to eventually say that he's got a job consulting for the Darrow police. He's met Russell at a crime scene, so he's already on the hunt for a gig. Eventually, I'd like to plot out arcs for a few different unsubs, one of which will likely include something supernatural like demons or vampires. If anyone wants to play a part in the case, whether it be as a victim or just someone who we could work out being helpful to him in solving it, I'd definitely want to hear from you.

I'm writing this here because I know there won't be many people who see it or who will want to comment on it. I just need to get it out so most of it probably won't even make coherent sense, it's just rambling.

I haven't made any real resolutions, but I'm in a motivated mood right now so I wanted to make a list of things I'd like to accomplish for this year.

YOOOOOOOOOOO FIRST STATE OF THE PUP SINCE MARCH, WHAT EVEN?????

Currently in game:

SMH, I have the one pup. ANYWAY, that pup is my pocket-sized science prince, sweet Newton Geiszler. What's he even up to these days, idek but here's an attempt at summarizing:

-He's enjoying married life to Kate. It's awesome, as far as he's concerned, and not much has changed in general in terms of how functioning their relationship is. A new addition to their little family is Seymour the kaiju skin louse, but he stays at the lab because a big bucket of ammonia in the apartment isn't going to fly.

-Newt and Kate are plotting to get Mindy and Danny together right now because they are the best partners-in-crime ever who just want to look out for their buds, okay? It's whatever, it's fine.

-Newt's been working on a murder case with Flavia up at Kagura. Let's see how long Flavia lasts before she wants to toss Newt down a flight of stairs.

-Frankenstein's Creature has invited Newt to call him Bro so henceforth, Bro is how he shall be known.

-Newt's making new friends all over, which I absolutely love because he's always such a weirdly social little butterfly, popping up everywhere and ruining everyone's lives. This one is super important because Newt needs all the friends for when I eventually and inevitably just fuck him up again. I DON'T KNOW WHEN, I DON'T KNOW HOW, BUT IT'S GOTTA HAPPEN AT SOME POINT OR I WOULDN'T BE ME. THIS IS 2 REAL.

So yes, this is very brief SotP but also a call for any plottage you might want to use him in or just general meetings you and yours would like to have with him one day. He gets along with pretty much everyone, it's just a matter of whether your pup can stand the endless chatter and jittery excitement and wild hand gestures at all times :D FTR, I don't think he'll get an EP until sometime in January because I've been having a lot of luck in just top-leveling him in gatherings but that doesn't mean that I'm not up for private posts! All anyone ever needs to do is drop me a line.

Well, this is easy.

Newt Geiszler:

Newt's going through some shit. He's trying to work through what happened to him (for those who might not know, he was stabbed about a month ago) and is going to be having a lot of internal struggle as a result of that for a long time. The whole situation put a certain degree of fear in him that he's not used to so if he's a little jumpier, a little more twitchy, a little more nervous than usual, please excuse him. He's trying.

He's also still hobbling around on crutches (I keep writing crotches smh) but will be graduating to a cane soon. This means, though, that I likely wouldn't have him participate in plots that are overly physical. He's an idiot and still runs around the city against all advice of any kind but he won't be jumping hurdles or anything like that for at least six more hours.

Aside from dealing with the stabbing, he's working out what to do with this engagement ring. He's going to ask Kate to marry him but the when and where and how are all up in the air. They're still going strong as ever, though, of course, even if he's hesitant to talk about what's going on with him to her or to anyone. I think in the near future, he's going to have to finally give in and spill it all--if anyone wants to be on the receiving end of that, let me know.

All that being said, Newt still wants to be around people. It's being alone that freaks him out the most right now and thus, I'll be attempting to tag in to more EPs. Now that I don't have any vacations on the books for at least five or six months, it'll be easier to keep the flow of threads going. As always, if anyone's interested in plotting anything, you know I'm up for it!

State of Darrow's Resident Pocket-Sized Science Prince: Newton Geiszler

all the right friends in all the right places.

I am so outrageously delighted by all the friends Newt has made in Darrow. Considering the fact that most people found him decidedly alienating and/or way too irritating to deal with in the Shatterdome, the fact that he has people here who are actually willing to listen to him and carry on an extended conversation with him is pretty wonderful. He's so chatty and rarely finds a reason to stop talking, so it's been great fun to just throw him at every character I can to see who he gels with best.

I love that he's got all these wonderfully grumpy and/or super masculine bros and a fabulous group of lady friends to keep him out of trouble. HA, false, never out of trouble but at least he's thoroughly entertained. Of course, he could always use more lovely souls in his Darrow family, and he needs more people he can be bitchy with, too. Owen, Derek and Sloan have been great people he can be super snappy and sardonic, and I would love to see more of that. That's not to say that I don't love him having the more ~tender friendships, too, it's such a nice way to show a different side of him.

Yeah, Newt's life is pretty sweet right now. He's got those previously mentioned buds and a great job at the lab and the best girlfriend ever. He never would have foreseen a relationship like this happening, especially not in a place he initially wanted out of with every part of his being. Kate, in the relatively short time they've been dating, has changed his life in so many ways--and for the better.

I legitimately can't even write about their relationship right now because they are so goddamn in love with each other, it's diabetes-inducing. But he would truly do anything for her and if anyone tries to mess with her, he will make every attempt to kick some ass with his 5'7" self. He's saved the world, okay, he can totally stand up to mean people. He'll just like, annoy them to death or something.

Wouldn't it be sweet to bring a kaiju into Darrow? It would be sweet.

As far as future plots go, I have so many ideas that I don't even remember half of them anymore. A lot of them have to do with Kate--though some will have cause to get friends involved--but one in particular that I decided today that I want to do involves Newt somehow losing his smarts. I'll probably go a more cartoon-ish route and say it's from a bad bump to the head. Basically, he becomes Charlie Kelly aka an illiterate mess with the education of a second-grader.

I am always interested in exploring situations that give the character a way to evolve, though, so if you need his help with anything or want to involve him in anything your characters are doing, I guarantee I'll say yes. Newt's also struggling with having the memories of the kaiju hivemind still in his head and recent developments have given way to the discovery that he, let's say flashes on these memories in especially aggravating and stressful situations. The flashes cause him to have debilitating headaches and nosebleeds until he's able to get back to a state of calm. If anyone's interested in playing off that--at least until he tries to get it fixed, which is also in the cards for the future--I'm totally down.

Oh, also coma in February. Blame Leah and vacations. And Newt, I guess, he's just so qt when he's unconscious. If any beautiful souls want to assist in helping him during this difficult time, your services will be appreciated.
